How We Started
Gibbs Realty and Auction Co., Inc has been marketing and selling REO properties in North and South Carolina since 2001. Darrell and Wendy Gibbs, owner and operators, began operating the business from their home in Easley (upstate SC) completing broker price opinions and listing foreclosures from banks and asset companies.
Within months, they moved into an office building in Easley and opened a 2nd office in Columbia (Midlands SC) per their clients' request. In 2004, Gibbs acquired the HUD MMII Broad Listing Broker contract for 16 counties in South Carolina listing HUD properties. This increased the business significantly and Gibbs soon had 6 offices throughout South Carolina and a great team of REO agents.
Through the years, we have always strived to keep our clients' best interests first, pay attention to detail and timelines, give accurate information and pricing strategy for a competitive market. We are proud to promote homeownership with equal housing opportunity to all, free from discrimination. Our greatest joy is to see a first time homeowner move into their first home they can call their own sometimes at a rate cheaper than they were paying rent. Professionally and ethically, we have maintained a standard for the company to be the foundation for years to come when our family takes the helm.
Over the last few years, the challenges of inventory fluctuations, staffing, training and the general market have kept us on our toes, but through it all our strength has been first in God, for giving us the health and wisdom to do what we have done; to each other, it seems where one of us is weak the other is strong; and to our great team of agents, who share our motto of not only doing the job right, but also doing the right thing.
